In a country with harsh conditions for lower-income families, drugs are a common escape. It is customary among many such families to offer drugs such as hashish to their guests at wedding ceremonies as a form of recreation. Abdul Rahman's family was no exception. On the evening of a family member's wedding ceremony, 18-year-old Abdul Rahman was tasked with providing the drugs for the evening and was unfortunate enough to be caught by the authorities. He was sentenced to three years in Juvenile Correctional Institution in Marg, Cairo, Egypt.
